CAMERA FOR MONITORING REAR PART OF VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A camera for monitoring the back of a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to protect the lens of the camera against foreign matters by automatically opening and closing the cover with controlling a motor according to a trigger signal, and to operate the camera stably by compensating low temperature with driving a heater. CONSTITUTION: A camera for the back of a vehicle is composed of an outer signal detecting unit(510) detecting a trigger signal in the backward movement or turn of the vehicle or power from a screen, and outputting the signal; a control unit(520) outputting the control signals to driving units in detecting external signals from the outer signal detecting unit; a motor driving unit(530) automatically controlling opening of the lens protection cover according to the trigger signal or power from the screen; a temperature sensing unit(560) detecting internal temperature of the camera automatically, and outputting the detecting signal to the control unit in lowering temperature below 10 deg.C; and a heater driving unit(570) and a heating unit(580) automatically heating to keep internal temperature constant in lowering the internal temperature. The lens of the camera is protected by automatically opening and closing the protection cover.
