COMPOSITION CONTAINING GREEN TEA CATECHIN AS EFFECTIVE INGREDIENT FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE ASSOCIATED WITH DIABETES

摘要

PURPOSE: A composition containing, as a main component, catechin which is a major component of green tea is provided. Therefore, the composition is effective for the prevention of cardiac insufficiency and reduction of oxidative damage and aging. CONSTITUTION: To analyze an effect of catechin on metabolic function in the kidney tissue of a diabetic rat, catechin is supplied to the rat and then streptozotocin is injected thereinto. Metabolic control and a cascade system of arachidonic acid in the kidney tissue of the diabetic rat are checked. And the oxidative damage and the activity of antioxidase in the cardiac tissue are measured. The composition exhibits effective prevention and treatment effects on ardiovascular disease in a diabetic rat. The green tea catechin improves the injury index of kidney function such as microalbumin, microglobulin and reduces oxidative injury and aging.
