PURPOSE: A Mg-Zn alloy having good physical properties, especially thermal resistance at high temperature, and its preparation method are provided. CONSTITUTION: The method includes the steps of (a) adding Ag and Si into Mg melt at 690 to 720 deg.C, followed by agitation; (b) cooling the melt prepared at a first step in furnace; (c) adding Zn and Ca into the melt prepared at a second step, followed by agitation; (d) casting the melt; (e) processing a cast article; (f) primary aging the cast article at 70 to 100 deg.C for 24 to 96 hrs; and (g) secondary aging the cast article at 150 to 180 deg.C for 12 to 96 hrs. The high strength and thermal resistant alloy of the present invention comprises 3 to 10 wt.% of Zn, 0.5 to 4.0 wt.% of Ag, 0.1 to 4.0 wt.% of Si, 0.1 to 2.0 wt.% of Ca and a balance of Mg. |
