PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal and a method for writing a text message in a mobile communication terminal are provided to add special function keys to the mobile communication terminal, and to simply perform sentence copying and sentence compressing processes with the function keys, thereby easily inputting special characters or emoticon as writing text messages. CONSTITUTION: A mobile communication terminal retrieves characters forming a character string to be repeated(S410). The terminal combines the retrieved characters, and writes the character string to be repeated(S420). The terminal sets a variable 'n', makes an initial value of the variable to '0', and accumulates the variable like 'n=n+1'(S430). The terminal decides whether the number of the same characters is repeated as desirous frequency, by using the accumulated value(S440). If not, the terminal copies the written character string(S450). The terminal inserts the character string capable of being compressed to a position of a corresponding cursor(S460).
