<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel proton conductor which can be used in a dry atmosphere and in a relatively wide temperature range including ambient temperature and can have a greatly improved proton conductivity, and its manufacturing method as well as an electrochemical device. <P>SOLUTION: The proton conductor having a fullerene molecule combined with a functional group with a proton(H<SP>+</SP>)-dissociative group, with the above functional group having a proton-dissociative group combined with the fullerene through a three- or more-member ring structure, and an electrochemical device using the same are provided. As the manufacturing method of the proton conductor, a derivative made by combination of the above matter with a functional group having an ester group through a three- or more-member ring structure is obtained, and the derivative is hydrolyzed by alkali hydroxide, and then this hydrolyzed matter is put under an ion exchange process to form a proton- dissociative group mentioned above. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
