PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high-speed backup by targeting only data corresponding to effective logical address for backup using an address conversion table. SOLUTION: A control device 11 of a disk array apparatus 1 creates a copy 221 of an address conversion table 132, when starting backup processing. The control device 11 retrieve effective logical addresses according to the copy 221 of the conversion table 132 to read physical stripes including data blocks of physical addresses corresponding to the effective logical addresses from a disk array 12 and writes data of the data blocks corresponding to the effective logical addresses among the physical addresses to a large capacity storage device 3. The control device 11 registers control information including the logical addresses of the written data blocks and the physical addresses on the storage device 3 to a control table 223 and writes information of the table 223 to the storage device 3, after backing up of the data.
