PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canned motor which can reduce eddy current loss without lowering rigidity, permeation resistance, and sealing property. SOLUTION: This canned motor is of such structure that it possesses a stator 1 equipped with winding for generating a rotating magnetic field and a rotor 12 rotated by the rotating magnetic field of the stator and that the stator is sealed with a metallic can 6 on fixing side mounted inside the stator, and the section opposed to the length L in the direction of the rotary shaft of the rotor in the metallic can on fixing side is provided with a groove of such depth that it does not piece the metallic can on fixing side, in the direction crossing the direction of the rotary shaft.
