PURPOSE: A device for processing an intelligent packet in a network management system is provided to analyze a query packet transmitted from a management program, and to intelligently make a response packet in SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) or CORBA(Common ORB(Object Request Broker) Architecture) type, then to transmit the response packet, thereby collecting network management data packets without changing equipment configuration. CONSTITUTION: In a network management system(200), a manager requests a query by using an SNMP or a CORBA to a network management program, receives a response to the query, and monitors and manages network situations. A CORBA/SNMP gateway system(230) converts the CORBA-type query into an SNMP-type query, or converts the SNMP-type response into a CORBA-type response, and reciprocally interworks the network management system(200) with SNMP agents(251). A gateway group(250) analyzes the query, transmits the query to the SNMP agents(251) if the query is the SNMP type, and transmits the query to the SNMP agents(251) through data conversion if the query is the CORBA type.
