PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the user-friendliness of a facsimile capable of transferring audio data as digital files. SOLUTION: The facsimile has a means for deciding whether received data are video data or audio data, a means for changing the audio data compression ratio according to the capacity of audio data memory area for receiving the audio data, and a means for indicating that a receiving means has received the audio data.
