PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a master device to automatically start a remote I/O transmission system through the use of a configuration request by a maintenance monitor device. SOLUTION: The master device 40 reads the I/O size of each slave device 60 by the configuration request from the maintenance monitor device 10, calculates a transmission period time which is necessary for exchanging I/O data with an I/O address of each slave device based on the I/O size and reports it to the maintenance monitor device 10. A user utilizes a transmission parameter as it is, which is reported from the master device 40 to the maintenance monitor device 10. Thus, the remote I/O transmission system is automatically started.
