<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square battery, together with its manufacturing method, capable of acquiring a sealing property equal to that of a cylindrical battery, by overcoming the problem of the square battery lacking sealing performance at a sealing part. <P>SOLUTION: A sealing plate 2 is fitted by caulking via a gasket 8, to an annular part 9b of a lid plate 9 which is welded by laser to an open end of a jacket can 1 formed as a bottomed cylinder, with its cross-section being almost square. Since the circular sealing plate 2 is fixed with the circular annular part 9b by caulking, the same structure as the sealing structure for a cylindrical battery is acquired, providing the square battery having the same sealing property as with that of the cylindrical battery. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
