PURPOSE: An information system for a guidance and method thereof is provided not only to guide a user to the direction, but also individually to use a GPS terminal and a map by linking the GPS terminal and the map. CONSTITUTION: A key board unit(21) includes a plurality of keys including number keys(0-9) and a confirmation key inputting coordinates. A map data base stores a square corner coordinate data, a lattice code, coordinates of milestones, and a memo-type map. An indicating unit(24) indicates data such as the square corner data and the lattice code of the memo-type map and a normal map output from a microprocessor(22). The keyboard unit(21) transmits the coordinates and various orders inputted by a user to the microprocessor(21). A lattice code producing unit(25) receives the coordinate value of a target point, converts it into the same coordinates as the coordinates used the map, and produces the page of the map including the target point, the lattice coordinate space, and the lattice code value, and outputs it to the microprocessor(22). A GPS(global positioning system) data receiving unit(26) receives location data from a GPS artificial satellite and outputs it to the microprocessor(22). The microprocessor(22) receives the location data from the keyboard unit(21) and the GPS data receiving unit(26), drives the lattice code producing unit(25), produces the page or the lattice code value of the memo-type map including the location, indicates them the indicating unit(24), and outputs them to a voice through a voice output unit(27).
