<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of a communications system while improving the accuracy of traffic flow measurement by using both the existing traffic information collecting and presenting system and a wideband communications system such as a portable telephone. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle 9 mounted with an on-vehicle device for receiving traffic information from a VICS (vehicle information and communication system) center 15 and notifying the traffic information by means of display or the like, has a wideband communications function by the portable telephone or the like. When the vehicle 9 is located within a covering area of the traffic information, a traveling state is judged on the basis of travel time information up to the next beacon obtained from a beacon on a road and real travel hour measured by the on-vehicle device itself. When it is judged to be unusual travel, the wideband communications function is operated, and the vehicle 9 notifies the an information providing center of the current location. If the current location is judged to be on a route on which information providing beacons are installed at the center, downlink data at the nearest beacon on the latest link where the vehicle 9 is located is redistributed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
