<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that: there are wastes in code quantities with respect to image information and in demultiplexing/decoding processes in the case of multiplexing image and coding parameters on each frame; it is impossible to optimize the coding processing in the case of multiplexing the parameters on a GOP; and it is difficult to frequently revise a quantization matrix. <P>SOLUTION: An image information setting unit 11 selects a P (I) picture and a B picture adjacent to the P (I) picture, where frames or fields are consecutive, for a set of pictures and sets at least one of the image parameter and the coding parameter common to the set of the pictures as image information. A subtractor 3, a DCT 4, a quantization unit 5, and a variable length encoder 6 encode the P (I) picture according to the image information to obtain a first code string in the unit of one frame or one field. A subtractor 14, a DCT 15, a quantization unit 16, and a variable length encoder 17 encode the B picture according to the image information to obtain a second code string in the unit of one frame or one field. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
