PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity by increasing the number of panels transferred into a heating furnace in one sitting without changing the volume of a furnace, when the plasma display panels is evacuated in the heating furnace. SOLUTION: In a vacuum evacuation device for the panel comprising the heating furnace 7 for evacuating the interior of each panel while transferring a plurality of panels 2 thereinto and heating them, a vacuum evacuation system 8 connected to the transferred panels 2, and evacuation ports 4b for individually connecting evacuation pipes 1 attached to each panel 2 to the vacuum evacuation system 8, when the panels 2 are transferred into the heating furnace 7, the panels 2 are alternately arrayed so that the evacuation pipes 1 attached to each panel 2 are alternately positioned on a panel transfer side A and a side B on the opposite side. Then the panels 2 are loaded on a transfer truck 3 which is transferred into the heating furnace 7 to evacuate the panels 2. Each evacuation port has a vertically movable mechanism by which each evacuation port can take shelter in a lower position so as to not to disturb the carry-in and carry-out of the transfer truck 3.
