PURPOSE: Provided is a copolymerized polyester resin for use in a binder for film coating on steel plate and for automobile topcoat which has improved weather resistance and processability. CONSTITUTION: The copolymerized polyester resin is obtained from an acid component and a polyhydric alcohol. The copolymerized polyester resin is characterized in that the acid component consists of 60 to 95 mol% of one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of 1,4-cyclohexyl dicarboxylic acid, hexahydrophthalic anhydride, methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride, methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride, tetrahydro phthalic anhydride and ester derivatives thereof and 1 to 40 mol% of a compound selected from the group consisting of phthalic anhydride, terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, trimaleic anhydride and ester derivatives thereof; and the polyhydric alcohol consists of 60 to 99 mol% of the compound having the formula of HO-CH2-CR1(R2)-CH2OH, wherein R1 and R2 which are the same or different, are H or a C1-C4 alkyl group, provided that at least one of R1 and R2 is alkyl group, and 1 to 10 mol% of an alcohol compound having a trihydroxy or higher reactive group.
