PURPOSE: A mail managing method for selectively receiving/deleting a mail by using mail header information and a mail client terminal for the same are provided to reduce the damage infected by a virus and the time to receive an unnecessary mail by making a user selectively receiving or deleting the mail. CONSTITUTION: The client terminal passes a mail server certification after connecting to a mail server through the network(210). If a LIST instruction is given to the server, the server transmits a number and a size of each mail(220). The terminal stores the size of each mail in a memory. The terminal receives the mail header information by using a TOP instruction, and extracts the information such as a sender, a title, a day, and a time by analyzing a mail header(240). A mail client program displays the header information of each mail on the terminal(250). If the user wants to receive the mail, the user receives the desired mail by selecting the number of the desire mail and sending a RETR instruction(266). If the user wants to delete the mail, the user deletes the mail by selecting the number of the desired mail and sending a DELETE instruction(274).
