PREPARATION METHOD OF POLY(ALPHA-OLEFIN) WITH HIGH VISCOSITY USING 1-DECENE AND 1-DODECENE

PURPOSE: A method for preparing a poly(α-olefin) by using 1-decene and 1-dodecene and a poly(α-olefin) prepared by the method are provided, wherein the poly(α-olefin) shows a higher viscosity index compared with a polymer prepared by using only 1-decene and a better low temperature fluidity compared with a polymer prepared by using only 1-dodecene. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the step of polymerizing 20-60 mol% of 1-decene and 40-80 mol% of 1-dodecene in the presence of a catalyst system of ethyl ammonium dichloride and t-butyl alcohol. Preferably the ratio of ethyl ammonium dichloride to t-butyl alcohol is 1:1 to 1:3 by mol. Preferably the polymerization reaction is carried out at a temperature of 70-90 deg.C and under an atmospheric pressure.
