PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus provided with a fixing device for lessening irregularity of pressure contact force between fixing members in each image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The fixing device is provided with a direct moving rod 61 provided with a first spring 37 for biasing a roller support member 36 so as to bring a pressure contact force changing mechanism 60 for modifying the pressure contact force between a heating roller 26 and a pressurizing roller 27 into contact with a part between the heating roller 26 and the pressurizing roller 27 with pressure, and a second spring 63 for reducing the pressure contact force between the heating roller 26 and the pressurizing roller 27 against biasing force of the first spring 37. It can change over a reaction state for contacting the direct moving rod 61 on the roller support member 36 and reacting biasing force caused by the second spring 63 and a non-reaction state for separating the direct moving rod 61 from the roller support member 36 and hardly reacting the biasing force caused by the second spring 63.
