<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which uses lithium manganate as a positive electrode active material that is excellent in charging/discharging cycle life characteristics at a high temperature. <P>SOLUTION: The positive electrode active material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises lithium manganate having a spinel structure. A primary particle is a polyhedron, with its average particle size being 0.5-10 μm, and the primary particles coagulate to form globular secondary particles.
