PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set in which a receiving sensitivity is excellent even when synchronism is not acquired with a base station in the case of turning on a power source or outside a zone. SOLUTION: In the state of not acquiring synchronism with the base station, a plurality of antennas 1 and 2 are alternately switched at the interval of a predetermined fixed time corresponding to the number of perch channels, and the antenna of the larger average of receiving levels respectively received by the antennas is set as an antenna to use later, namely, as an antenna to open a so-called control channel.
