PURPOSE: A method of compressing a stereo image is provided to compress one of two images having high correlation and restore the compressed image and reproduce the other image using parallax information. CONSTITUTION: A stereo image including the first and second images having high correlation is compressed in a manner that a region having high correlation with an object region is extracted from the first image and the extracted region is set as an adaptive window. Parallax information is extracted from the adaptive window(S600). The first image and the extracted parallax information are compressed and transmitted(S601,S602,S603). The compressed first image and parallax information are decoded, and the second image is restored using the decoded first image and parallax information. |
