<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code reader having an excellent characteristic that a bar code can be precisely read without being disturbed by external light. <P>SOLUTION: The bar code reader comprises a cylindrical external light shielding means set between a bar code reading light source part and a bar code surface along the light path. As a bar code reader body, a generally commercially available hand type bar code reader can be used. As the cylindrical external light shielding means, any one which can shield light, for example, a black resin-made cylinder can be used. The opposite end to the bar code reader body of the external light shielding means is formed so as to be capable of being used in contact with the bar code surface and covering the whole bar code part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
