<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system, which can realize expansion reduction function and/or scrolling function, using simple operations. <P>SOLUTION: In the image display system, an accumulation device 12 accumulates an original image Ibs. An input device 11 creates operation information Idr, which indicates a direction specified by user operations. A processor 14 updates pointer coordinates, based on the operation information Idr received from the input device 11, and then updates the ratio of expansion and reference coordinate values, based on the updated pointer coordinates. In addition, the processor 14 generates a partial image from the original image Ibs stored in the accumulation device 12, based on the updated reference coordinate values, and then changes its size in accordance with the updated ratio of expansion. Subsequently, the processor 14 convolutes a pointer on the updated pointer coordinates to generate a display image Idp.
