<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothen motion of an image of an image signal generated by subjecting a telecine-converted image to double speed conversion while suppressing plane flicker disturbance. <P>SOLUTION: A first field is identified on the basis of a difference value of a pixel signal level operated with respect to each detected pixel, the position of a written pixel shifted in a vector direction of a motion vector from the position of the detected pixel is calculated in subsequent fields of the first field, the calculated position of the written pixel is associated with the motion vector for storage, interpolated pixel data is calculated from pixel data read from each first field in accordance with the stored position of the written pixel and the stored motion vector, and the calculated interpolated pixel data is written to the position of the written pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
