PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the internal resistance of a battery. SOLUTION: A battery element 2 comprises a positive electrode 4 having a positive electrode lead part 9 entirely at one end part of a positive electrode substrate 7 in the short side direction thereof, a negative electrode 5 having a negative electrode lead part 12 entirely at one end part of a negative electrode substrate 10 in the short side direction thereof, and a solid electrolytic layer 6 interposed between the positive electrode 4 and the positive electrode 5. Since the positive electrode lead part 9 and the negative electrode lead part 12 of the battery element 2 are directly connected with the outside over the entire region in the longitudinal direction of each electrode, the current collecting area of each electrode is increased and thereby the internal resistance of the battery can be reduced.
