PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always display an appropriate amount of road traffic information. SOLUTION: In an information providing system for vehicle in which an information center transmits traffic information to an on-vehicle information terminal, and the on-vehicle information terminal reproduces the traffic information to provide a user with the traffic information, the information center transmits to the on-vehicle information terminal traffic information in the direction flowing out of the nearest interchange 32a in the vicinity of the current location of an express way when requested for highway traffic information in the vicinity of the current location, and transmits the on-vehicle information terminal traffic information in the direction flowing into the nearest interchange in the vicinity of an express way destination when requested for express way traffic information in the vicinity of the destination.
