PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for analyzing the bit error pattern of a recording land and pit recorded on an optical disk. SOLUTION: A bit comparison means 2 compares a write signal stored in a recording data storage means 1 storing the write signal which forms the recording land and pit having a length of an integral multiple of the length of a certain reference and written in the optical disk with a read signal which an optical reading means 10 read from the optical disk, thereby a bit having the error is detected. A bit error information extracting means 3 extracts bit error information on the bit having the error from the write signal of the optical disk stored in the recording data storage means 1. A frequency summing up means 4 sums up an error frequency from the bit error information, and a display means 5 displays the summed up data to analyze the bit error pattern. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
