摘要 PURPOSE: An overload control method for an EPS(Electronic Power Steering) by using a power latch mode is provide to prevent a motor, an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) and a battery from overloading by maintaining the ECU to be turned on with the power latch mode though an excessive steering operation is operated after stopping and starting a vehicle in a safe mode. CONSTITUTION: Whether limit time is passed is checked to recover a motor and an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) by counting time when a vehicle in a safe mode stops(S1,S2,S3). A system power source is tuned off for the ECU when limit time is passed(S4). Limit current of the motor is initialized to initialize the safe mode when the vehicle starts and the system power source for the ECU is turned on(S5,S6,S7). An overload control mode is operated to prevent the motor inserted to an EPS(Electronic Power Steering) system, the ECU and a battery from overloading based on limit current of the initialized motor(S8). The system power source is turned on for specific time by using a power latch mode when limit time is not passed(S9). Limit current of the motor, which is memorized by the ECU in the safe mode, is memorized when the vehicle starts(S10). The overload control mode is operated based on memorized limit current of the motor(S11). Thereby, overload of the motor, the ECU and the battery is prevented effectively by applying the safe mode successively after restarting the vehicle.
