<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cumulative dispersion type high-speed optical transmission line with an excellent nonlinear characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission line is characterized in that the transmission line has a line length L of 30 km to 150 km, preferably 30 km to 70 km, has an absolute value of dispersion at a wavelength of 1.55 μm at every point of the optical transmission line is 8 ps/nm/km or more, the maximum cumulative dispersion at a wavelength of 1.55 μm is 7.5×L (ps/nm) or below, and the dispersion of the entire optical transmission line at a wavelength of 1.55 μm is -5 to +5 ps/nm/km.
