PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shopping assistance system capable of reducing a shopping time. SOLUTION: The system is provided with: an article information management apparatus 101 that is located in each shop and manages inventory information of many articles; and a mobile communication terminal 102 that wirelessly transmits/receives information to/from the article information management apparatus 101. The article information management apparatus 101 stores the inventory information of many articles and transmits the inventory information of an article on request by an article information acquisition request signal to the mobile communication terminal 102 upon receipt of the article information acquisition request signal. The mobile communication terminal 102 transmits the article information acquisition request signal to acquire the inventory information of a purchase scheduled article to the article information management apparatus 101, receives the inventory information of the article and selectively displays the information.
