PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly predict a period of time until the end of writing without repeating test writing when data is written on a recording medium. SOLUTION: This method for executing writing while adjusting a recording speed when data read from a first recording medium at a first recording/ reproducing device is transferred to a second recording/reproducing device to be recorded therein comprises: a step of test-writing the data read at the first recording/reproducing device at a speed preset at the second recording/ reproducing device; a step of detecting the amount of data stored in the buffer of the second recording/reproducing device: a step of calculating the reduction tendency of the buffer based on the detection result: a step of predicting a writing speed based on the calculation result: and a step of performing the writing at the predicted writing speed.
