PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording an optical disk, capable of shortening the total data recording time, while preventing the buffer under run error. SOLUTION: In the method for recording the optical dick, when the remaining amount of data stored in a buffer memory is not sufficient (step S101) and when the data transfer from a PC (personal computer) is completed, the recording operation ends, after recording all of the data in the buffer memory (step S104). When the data transfer from the PC is not completed, the recording is stopped temporarily (step S105). A system control circuit 50 records the temporal stop generating position (step S106), and adds one to a counter which counts the temporal stop (step S107). When the value of the counter is larger than a prescribed value N, the interval (lapse of time) from the temporal stop generating position last time to the temporal stop generating position this time is calculated (step S110); and when the lapse of time is shorter than a prescribed interval T, the recording velocity is lowered by one step.
