PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely extract a character area from an image data to execute a proper process for the character area in the read image data. SOLUTION: After the character area is firstly extracted from a received image data (S241), a photograph area and a graphic area are separated from the data remaining after extraction (S243, S245, S246).
