PURPOSE: A system and method for detecting an interface error of a digital TV interface system are provided to easily confirm the state of external devices without using an additional apparatus or system. CONSTITUTION: A system for detecting an interface error of a digital TV interface system includes a microprocessor(501), a program logic device(503), and a serial communication transceiver(505). The microprocessor controls path conversion into a loop back mode, outputs loop back mode data, and compares loop back data with the original data to detect an error in serial communication. The program logic device converts a receiving line to a loop back receiving line and transmits all of received loop back mode data to the microprocessor. The serial communication transceiver serves as a line driver/receiver for serial communication with an external device(507), and loop-back-receives data output to the external device to transmit the data to the program logic device.
