PURPOSE: A slim type projector is provided to reduce depth of the whole of optical system. CONSTITUTION: A projector includes an optical source(1); an illuminating system(10) mixing light from the optical source to make uniform; a tetrad color prism(30) comprising a first prism(30a), a second prism(30b), a third prism(30c), a fourth prism(30d) passing or passing incident light from the illuminating system or changing path of the light according to range of wave lengths and placed above the illuminating system; a first image forming device(40a), a second image forming device(40b) and a third image forming device(40c) forming image from incident light divided by the tetrad color prism according to range of wave lengths and projected, respectively, and reflecting the images; at least one reflecting mirror(50,55) changing path of light reflected from the first, the second and the third image forming devices and reflected and/or passed by the tetrad color prism; and a projecting lens unit(60) spreading and passing light projected by the reflecting mirror to be directed to a screen(75).
