<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL element which uses a sealing material made of a film having flexibility and does damage or crack the organic EL layer, even if it is pasted to the substrate under a prescribed pressure, and in which a uniform emission is obtained. <P>SOLUTION: The electroluminescent element comprises a substrate, a first electrode formed on the surface of the substrate, an organic EL layer that is formed on the above first electrode layer and has at least a luminous layer, a second electrode layer formed so as to clip this organic EL layer by the above first electrode layer, and a sealing material for sealing the above first electrode layer, the organic EL layer, and the second electrode layer. The above sealing material is a film having flexibility, and a pasting impact damping layer having a universal hardness of 110 N/mm<SP>2</SP>or more is formed on the above second electrode layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
