<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element where photoelectric conversion efficiency is substantially improved by restraining losses caused by an internal resistance of a collector, and by enhancing the capture ratio of incident light at a semiconductor layer, carrying a dye, which is a photoelectric conversion layer. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element comprises an optically transparent substrate to which the semiconductor layer carrying a sensitizing dye is adhered, an electrode facing the semiconductor layer on the substrate, an electrolyte layer disposed between the semiconductor layer on the substrate and the electrode.
