PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle-traveling control device and a method that can improve the traveling accuracy of a vehicle and suppress the frequency of maintenance for a traveling road, various sensors and the like to reduce the cost and time for the maintenance. SOLUTION: A lateral displacement integrated value calculation part 23 calculates an integrated value which is the product of the lateral displacement of traveling trajectory of the vehicle with respect to a traveling route and a given sampling interval. A S/N ratio and sensitivity calculation part 25, based on the integrated value calculated with the lateral displacement integrated value calculation part 23 and an evaluation value read from an evaluation value storage part 33, calculates a S/N ratio and a sensitivity under actual traveling condition. A comparison part 27 compares the S/N ratio and the sensitivity calculated with the S/N ratio and sensitivity calculation part 25 with an S/N ratio and a sensitivity under an optimal condition that are read from a S/N ratio and sensitivity storage part 35, respectively. A control parameter regulating part 29, if the differences between the S/N ratio and the sensitivity under the actual traveling condition and the S/N ratio and the sensitivity under the optimal condition are equal to or more than given values, regulates a given control parameter so that the S/N ratio becomes larger and the sensitivity assumes a desired state.
