PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact broadband antenna which uses a slot antenna fed by the line/slot transition to transmit electromagnetic signals and has a very ideal linear polarization. SOLUTION: The apparatus for transmitting and/or receiving electromagnetic signals comprises three annular slots 20, 21, 22 adjacent at two points P1, P2 in pair. These slots are fed by two feed lines 23, 24 to cause a line-slot transition. One line 23 passes the point P1 and the other line 24 passes the point P2. The two lines are connected at a common port 1 through a T-shaped junction. Diodes 25 or 26 are provided on free ends of the respective lines, enabling the simulation of the open or the short circuit at the end of one line and that at the end of the other line.
