PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave oven in which the heating control is started based on the detected temperature by the infrared sensor by detecting, after the start of the oscillation of the magnetron, the oscillation state from the initial unstable oscillation to the normal oscillation, and in which the infrared sensor does not make an error detection from the start of heating control. SOLUTION: The microwave oven comprises a heating chamber 3 for housing an object, a door 2 for opening and shutting the opening 3a of this heating chamber 3, a magnetron 8 for supplying microwave to this heating chamber 3, a driving circuit for driving this magnetron 8, a current detecting means for detecting the size of the current flowing in the power supply line, and a control part 29. The control part 29 controls the heating based on the detected temperature by the infrared sensor 9, when the detected current by the current detecting means reaches a prescribed value, after the start of oscillation of the magnetron 8.
