The illumination arrangement has an illumination source and a matt plate acting as a diffuser, whereby the illumination source and the matt plate illuminated by it are arranged so that the matt plate is uniformly illuminated by the illumination source. The diffuser can extend in a first or second direction of the object surface ands can enclose the surface over an angle of at least 100 and no more than 360 degrees.
