<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>suitable for synthesizing the ferrite for magnetic elements such as a chip inductor, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>has a specific surface area (S) of 8-60 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and the specific surface area S<SB>700</SB>after heating at 700°C for one hour satisfies the relation of S<SB>700</SB>>S×0.1. The Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>produced by a wet method or an Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>precursor before the oxidation by heating is dried at 60-200°C under reduced pressure in an atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of 0.025 MPa or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
