The invention concerns a method for managing a synchronous collaborative session implemented in a distributed and supervised architecture, wherein each of the terminals involved in the collaborative session executes a client application. The invention is characterized in that the method uses an inhibiting mechanism comprising the following steps, when there occurs an action on a client application Ck: automatically setting up a communication between the client application Ck and a supervisor application, so that the client application Ck performs a test to determine whether the server application is available; if the server application is available, then the client application Ck renders said user action effective and the supervisor application updates the plurality of other client applications on the basis of said user action; if the supervisor application is unavailable, said user action is inhibited and is not rendered effective by the client application Ck. Thus the state of coherence is maintained between client applications, even when there are simultaneous user actions.
