<p>A device for conducting integrated sequential separation and enrichment of a mixture of sample proteins, comprising means for separation and means for enrichment, whereby free flow electrophoresis - isoelectric focussing (FFE-IEF), is arranged to take place within an etched system of basins and channels is preferably employed in the separation step, multichannel conduits are used to guide the separated protein fractions to the enrichment stage, and a solid phase micro-extraction procedure, in an optionally dockable format, is preferably employed in the enrichment step. The separated fractions are then preferably dispensed onto a MALDI-plate for subsequent matrix assisted laser desorption ionisation (MALDI) analysis.</p> |
