<p>A method and apparatus for the ensilage of a fodder mass, in which the fodder mass (5) is compressed in a confined space so as to expel air from the mass and with at least part of the outer surface of the mass remaining exposed, and applying a gel coating (1) (preferably a foam coating) to the exposed outer surface of the mass which cures or sets to form a substantially air and water-tight covering of the fodder mass so that fermentation of the fodder mass can take place to form silage.</p> |
