The invention relates to a refrigerating appliance comprising an inner chamber which is surrounded by a heat-insulating housing (2) and a door (6), and can be divided into an upper region (31) and a lower region (32) by means of a partition wall. Said refrigerating appliance also comprises a plate-type evaporator (7) which is arranged on a wall (5) of the inner chamber. The inventive refrigerating appliance is characterised in that the evaporator (7) extends over at least part of the wall (5) pertaining to the lower region (32), and the cooling performance of the evaporator (7), in its part pertaining to the upper or lower region (31, 32), is such that the temperature reached in the upper region (31) of the inner chamber is lower than that reached in the lower region (32).
