SCREENING FOR COMPOUNDS USEFUL IN TREATING HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION

A method of identifying a compound detrimental to the growth or survival of H. pylori, comprising the steps of: (1) providing a candidate compound; (2) determining whether the candidate compound is capable of modulating the capacity of a H. pylori GF6PTase and/or a H. pylori XGPRTase to catalyse the formation of PRA from L-Gln and PribPP; and (3) identifying a compound capable of modulating said capacity as one which is detrimental to the growth or survival of H. pylori.
