A self adhesive label (42) for a bottle has a smaller portion (43) replicating information about the wine that appears on the main portion of the label. The smaller portion is defined by a perimeter of weakness with a coating (46) on the back of the smaller portion which removes adhesiveness of the self adhesive (44) on the back of that portion of the label. The smaller portion may be readily removed by the user and retained as a record of the contents of the bottle.
