PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a pumping power to a pumped object without discharging it outside a pipeline for relaying the pumping and to dispense with additional facilities such as a hopper or a storage tank thereby. SOLUTION: This intermediate pump disposed in the pipeline pumping the pumped object such as mud and ready-mixed concrete is provided with a first fixed casing coaxially connected to an upstream-side feed pipe having one end formed into the pipeline; a movable casing having one part received in the first fixed casing and having a first check valve device in one end; a second fixed casing having a second check valve device in one end, which is received in the movable casing from the other end of the movable casing, and the other end connected to a downstream-side feed pipe forming the pipeline; connecting means coaxially connecting the first fixed casing to the second fixed casing; driving means reciprocating the movable casing between the first fixed casing and the second fixed casing; and guide means guiding the reciprocating motion of the movable casing.
